Remember your leaders and superiors in authority,[for it was they] who brought to you the Word of God. Observe attentively and consider their manner of living...and imitate their faith.
– Hebrews 13:7
Apart from the Word of God itself and prayer, nothing can do more for you than watching and imitating a real man of faith.
I found that out in a big way many years ago when I lived in Fort Worth, Tx, and attended many Revival Meetings at Calvary Cathedral. At that time, I was close friends with The Kings, who were part of the inner circle at Calvary, so-to-speak? So...I had the opportunity to see and study one of my Heroes in the Faith, Tim Storey. I was at every meeting, when he came to town... Because of the King's I was able to follow him around, meet him, be a part of his ministry team. I heard him preach. I watched him lay hands on the sick. He was clearly very instrumental in where I am today.
I'll never forget the day I had the opportunity to put some of what I'd learned from him into action.
I'd just been to a few of his meetings. Spiritually, I was still as green as The Green Lantern. But I'd been assigned to help the people in the overflow room get ready for Tim Storey to lay hands on them. I was standing there for the first time surrounded by every kind of sickness and disease you can imagine, hurting people from different backgrounds... You name the need, it was there. And when Tim came in, instead of laying hands on the people himself, he caught me by the coat sleeve and said with a goofy grin..., "Son, You're going to help out with the praying. Go!! Lay hands on them."
I know all the blood must have drained out of my face because I'd never prayed for anyone in that magnitude... like that.... in my life. I might have considered praying for a headache or maybe a serious hangnail, but that's it!!! hahaha
The first lady we came to had cancer of the stomach. ( Wow!! First One out the Gate) She weighed less than 80 pounds. She was the poster child for "the picture of death". I began walking toward her and before I could open my mouth to pray, There was a voice from behind me that said, "In the Name of Jesus, Cancer. You cannot stay!! Be healed!!"
She instantly spit some nasty black gunk right on the floor, in front of everyone. (It stunk. It was the nastiest thing I had ever seen!!!) Then she jumped out of her chair and screamed, "I'm healed, I'm healed!! Thank You Jesus!!!" and started running around the room.
Let me tell you something, that moment changed me. When I stepped up to the next person and raised my hands, I had faith to see the healing coming forth. I'd seen Jesus heal through Brother Tim, so in my mind, I knew God could heal people through me.
Last year when I was going through my cancer issue.... This was one of the many stories that helped build my faith, to give me the strength to know, that I know... I WAS GOIN' to be healed!!!
You can do the same thing. Find someone who's operating in more faith and power than you are and learn from them. Watch Jesus in them and then copy them. Sooner or later, others will start seeing Jesus in you. Awesome!!!
Have a great week!!! Be Blessed!!
